GUADALUPE RODRIGUEZ

Guadalupe Rodriguez, 89, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2024. Mrs. Rodriguez was born in Teague, Texas and had been a resident of Laredo, Texas for most of her life. She was preceded in death by husband of 56 years, Simon Vela Rodriguez, parents Santiago and Nieves Cordova, Siblings Francisco, Manuel, and Alcaria.

Together with her husband and 6 children, Maria Francisca Guadalupe (Lupita) Cordova de Rodriguez traveled to Nevada and Utah to harvest vegetables as migrant workers. Finally, settling in Laredo in the 1980s. Simon and Guadalupe also devoted their time to Catholic ministries, they also assisted Laredo Mercy Hospital Food Pantry with Sister Delilis.
For more than 30 years Simon and Lupita sold plants and trees at Simon's Nursery and at the Laredo Mainstreet Farmer's Market.

Mrs. Rodriguez is survived by her loving children John (Magdalena) Rodriguez, Guillermo (Guadalupe) Rodriguez, Cecilia Rodriguez, Guadalupe Rodriguez, Jimmy Rodriguez and Alejandra (Geri) Rodriguez. Grandchildren Guillermo Rodriguez Jr., David Rodriguez, Gilberto Rodriguez, Iris Irene Rodriguez, John Eric Rodriguez, Vanessa Rodriguez, and Michael Rodriguez. Great-grandchildren Delilah and Mina. Siblings, Josefina Requejo, Juan Cordova, Antonio Cordova, Santiago Cordova, and Ramon Cordova. Also surviving are nephews, nieces, numerous other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral procession will be departing at 10:20 am from the funeral home. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am at San Vicente De Paul Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
