Obituary

MR. GUADALUPE "PITO" SALDANA Mr. Guadalupe "Pito" Saldana, 59, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at a local hospital. Mr. Saldana was born in Laredo, Texas and had been a life long resident. He graduated from J.W. Nixon High School on 1972. He was a ROTC Drill Team Commander which led his squad to National Competition. He enlisted to serve his country in the U. S. Army. He later graduated from Laredo Community College and Laredo State University (1992) earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) for many years at Hyperbaric, Mercy, Doctor Hospital and retiring his career at Casa Amistad (Laredo State Hospital). He is preceded in death by his parents, Domingo & Guadalupe Saldana. Brothers, Juan Santos, Dominic Saldana and grandchild, Kaylynn Maciel. He is survived by his loving wife, Flora Reyes Saldana. Children, Julisa Saldana(Toby Maciel),Lorena Reyes, Isa Saldana, Lupita Saldana and Domingo Antonio Saldana. 3 Grandchildren, Brother and sisters, Violeta (Cesar) Trevino, Norma S. Martinez, Sylvia Saldana and Nora Alicia (Gabe) Sanchez and Carlos (Norma) Saldana. Also surviving him are nephews, nieces,other relatives and many friends. A special thanks to his friends Jerry Gonzalez, Bobby Gonzalez, Margarito Benitez and Jesus Luna , and also to Dr. Arturo Garza-Gongora and the nurses and staff of the Laredo Medical Center ICU. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez- Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Laredo City Cemetery.
