Obituary

GUADALUPE ZAPATA

Guadalupe Zapata, 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Zapata was a lifelong resident of Laredo. She had graduated from Martin High School. After completing her education, she preceded to become a Teacher Aid and was employed by LISD for numerous schools, she also was employed part time at JcPenney at the River Drive Mall and  at Richter's and Dillards Department store in retail at Mall Del Norte.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 40 years of marriage Ramiro A. Zapata who passed away in 2001, by her son Mario Alberto Zapata, by her siblings, Maria Luisa Medellin, Manuel Rivera, Jesus Emilio Rivera, Juana Roberta Ayala and Inez Paulino Rivera and by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paulino Rivera and Maria De Jesus Rivera.

She is survived by her children, Ramiro A. Zapata Jr., Sandra Marie (Michael) Laurel and Nora Elia (Juan Gabriel) Lara.

Grandchildren, Rick, Ramiro III (Abby), Jennifer (Saul), Jonathan (Samantha), Erika (Daniel), Michael (Brenda), Kaitlyn, Monica, Aaron (Arlett), Andrew, Adam, Mikayla, Ivy and Ivan

Great grandchildren, Jean, Jazzlyn, Hailey, J.J., Emma, Oliver, Theo, Brandon and Baby Lucy.

Her siblings, Rosario (Jay) Landin, Consuelo Lara, Paulino (Tina) Rivera and Dolores (Guadalupe) Guajardo.

Also surviving her are numerous other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Rosary will be officiated at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave. Funeral Services will begin with the funeral procession departing the funeral home at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, June 12, 2023.  A Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels. 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave.
