HERLINDA ORTIZ
Herlinda Ortiz, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 in Laredo, Texas at the young age of 94. Ms. Ortiz was known as "Tootsie", to her family, "Wela", to her granchildren and "Granny", to her great-grand kids.
Mrs. Ortiz was born on Coffeeville, Kansas and was a long life resident of Laredo, Texas. Our mother was an excellent cook and baker. Our family's gathering was never short of delicious and creative meals, it was her way of getting the family together. If she didn't have food ready when you visited, she'll quickly make something cause you wouldn't leave with an empty stomach. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gregorio Ortiz
Sons, Jose Angel "Helio" Ortiz and Roberto "Beto" Ortiz.
Brothers, Ruben Alvarado, Fernando Alvarado, Benito Alvarado and Angel Alvarado.
Parents, Juan Rosales and Maria de Jesus Espinoza.
She is survived by her sons, Gregorio (Toni) Ortiz Jr.and Juan Fernando Ortiz. Her daughters, Carmen Ortiz and Maria N. Ortiz.
20 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
Sisters, Josie Kimbrow, Rebecca "Becky" (Rudy) Gomez and Angie Gallegos.
Also surviving her are other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Religious Service, officiated by Minister Carmen Ortiz, will be held at 7 p.m. in the
Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave.
A Religious Service will be officiated at 9 a.m. in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Committal services will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Ortiz, Roberto Ortiz Jr., Rafael Ortiz, Ricardo Ortiz, Jose Alejandro Ortiz, Danny Ortiz, Eliseo Ortiz and Al Castillo.
Alternate will be Gregorio Ortiz III.
Pallbearers will be Michael Ortiz, Roberto Ortiz Jr., Rafael Ortiz, Ricardo Ortiz, Jose Alejandro Ortiz, Danny Ortiz, Eliseo Ortiz and Al Castillo.
