IRMA SAAVEDRA

It is with great sadness that the family of Irma Saavedra announce her passing at the age of 81, on September 6, 2023 in Corpus Christi, Texas, surrounded by loved ones. A native from Laredo, Texas, she was born on November 23, 1941.

Irma graduated from Martin High School in 1962. She worked for Mercy Medical Center until her retirement in 2009. Irma was an active member at San Luis Rey Catholic Church in Laredo. She was a past member of the Hijas de Maria and active in the annual church Jamaica celebration. Irma enjoyed spending time with family and friends, making and gifting her highly anticipated tamales and Pan de Polvo cookies every Christmas season.

Irma is preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Sixta (Sifuentes) Sarabia; her husband, Eusebio Saavedra; brother Vicente (wife Manuela) Sarabia; and sister Margarita (husband Alfonso) Gonzalez.

She is survived by siblings Francisco Sarabia (wife Reina Sarabia deceased), Armando Sarabia (wife Victoria Sarabia deceased), Luciano (Edna) Sarabia, and Andres (San Juana) Sarabia.

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Funeral services were held on Monday, September 11, 2023 departing from the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapel, 800 Boston Street in Laredo. Holy Mass followed at San Luis Rey Catholic Church.  Committal services and interment  followed at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

PALLBEARERS WERE: Joseph Shield, Mandy Sarabia, Agustin Estevis, Jessie Gonzalez, Rick Gonzalez, Andres Sarabia Jr., Juan Luis Sarabia and Carlos Macias.
