JACINTO MALACARA, JR.

Early Monday morning March 24, 2025, at the age of 89 years old, surrounded by family, Mr. Jacinto Malacara, Jr. was called by our Father and gained his heavenly wings.

He was born to Jacinto and Francisca Malacara on July 14, 1935 in Laredo, Texas. He was one of nine siblings, four brothers and five sisters. Jacinto graduated from Raymond and Tirza Martin High School in 1954. From an early age he worked as a carpenter with his father and later worked at the county welfare for 25 years as a clerk. Mr. Malacara served 37 years in the Army and Army Reserve and retired with Sergeant ranking (1956-1982). He lived in Laredo all his life and had a passion for baseball, especially the Texas Rangers, and spent most of his free time as an umpire at Benavides Park and Cruz Field until the age of 65. He met his late wife, Maria de la Luz Rodriguez, in high school and married on May 1, 1960. Together they had 5 beautiful daughters. He always enjoyed hosting cookouts to bring family and friends together.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years Maria de la Luz Rodriguez, his parents Jacinto and Francisca Malacara, brothers Antonio, Octavio, Pedro, sisters Candelaria and Maria de la Luz and half-brother Raul.

Jacinto is survived by his sisters Josie Palacios, Connie Sierra, and Mary Lou Bejarano and half-brother Jose Jacinto (Gerardina) Malacara and half-sister Josefina Malacara. His memory will live on through his daughters Leticia (Martin) Zavala, Susie (Antonio IV) Tamez, Marisela Malacara, Melissa Valdez (Fidel Flores) and Gracie (Roman) Martinez as well as his 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
