Obituary

MR. JAVIER DERLY PENA Javier Derly Pena, born September 15, 1939 in Laredo, Texas went to meet Our Dear Lord on Monday, July 14, 2014 at the age of 74. Javier grew up an avid participant in Boys Club activities where he excelled in swimming and basketball. He loved music, dancing, and sports and had an exceptional knowledge of sports statistics and trivia. He graduated from Martin High School in 1957. He served as a medic in the United States Army at Fort Benning, Georgia and worked at Villarreal Electric for 35 years as a sales representative. Javier is preceded in death by his father, Police Sgt. Jose Pena, mother, Delia Casso Pena and brother, Rinaldo Daniel Pena. He is survived by his brother, Jose (Janie) Pena, Jr., Sisters, Delia Nella (Jose) Mireles and Melba Darlinda Alardin and nieces and nephews, Jose Eduardo Mireles, Delia Mireles, Rinaldo Daniel (Brenda) Pena, Erika Lizzette (Duwan) Baker, Maria Idette (Daniel) Ugalde, Troy Alardin, Mark A. (Elizabeth) Alardin, Darlinda Valdez, and Leopoldo (Grizelda) Alardin, III., and numerous family members and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez & Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:05 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
