Jorge A.
Martinez
October 28, 2025
JORGE A. MARTINEZ
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Jorge
Alberto Martinez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and
brother, who departed this life on October 28, 2025, at the age of
82. Born on August 21, 1943, Jorge lived a life marked by
dedication, joy, and a love for his family.
Jorge served honorably in the United States Army as a combat
infantryman during the Vietnam War in 1965. He became a
Laredo Police Officer in 1973 and then an Immigration Officer in
1979. Jorge devoted over 36 years of his life to U.S Customs and
Border Protection, a role from which he retired as a Chief in 2013.
His commitment to duty was paralleled only by his devotion to his
family.
Jorge was known for his fun, lively spirit and his loving nature. He
was a hard working provider, devoted husband, and loving father
who believed in doing what was right. His character was built on
honesty, which is the cornerstone of integrity. He demonstrated
through his actions his moral backbone.
He believed in putting family first. For 56 wonderful years, he
shared his life with his beloved wife, Maria Martinez, creating a
home full of joy, warmth, and unforgettable memories. His love for
his wife, children, and his grandchildren was endless.
Jorge was an avid reader who loved sharing his insights. He was
a devoted fan of boxing events, baseball, basketball, and football
games. He passed away doing something he loved, which is
traveling. He loved experiencing other cultures around the world,
traveling to Russia, Turkey, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, United
Kingdom, Canada, Greece, Jamaica, Cuba, Costa Rica, The
Bahamas, Barbados, Peru, and Dominican Republic - just to
name a few. His zest of life, sense of humor and generous heart
will be missed.
He is survived by his children: Jackie Martinez, Jorge Martinez,
Ricky Martinez, and Alex Martinez; his seven grandchildren:
Anthony Martinez, Jake Martinez, Ricardo Martinez, Jayden
Martinez, Amber Martinez, Zoe Martinez, and Ezekiel Martinez.
