Obituary

JOSE RUBEN "MATT" BENAVIDES Jose Ruben "Matt" Benavides, 58, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Matt worked for Webb County as a Deputy Sheriff for 24 years. My dad had a deep love for his daughters, Harley Davidson Motorcycle, John Wayne movies, and finding anything he could fix around the house and/or car. He is preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Maria Benavides. Brother, Fernando Benavides. Brothers-in-Law, Martin Lopes and Roberto "Chato" Gamez, Jr. Sisters-in-Law, Maria Benavides and Anna Gamez. Father and Mother-in-Law, Roberto and Delfina Gamez. He is survived by his wife, Delfina G. Benavides. Daughters, Aimee, Annalisa and Ariana Benavides. Sisters, Minerva (Jose Francisco) Cervantes and Olga (Martin) Lopez. Brother, Francisco Benavides. Sister-in-Law, San Juana Benavides. Also surviving him are many friends, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:05 a.m. on Friday, August 30, 2013 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
