Obituary

JOSE C. GONZALEZ

Jose C. Gonzalez, 82, was called to his eternal rest by his Savior and Lord on Friday, August 14th, 2020.

"Chepe" as he was known to his family and friends and almost everyone who met him, was born and raised in Laredo, Texas and was one of five children.  His two greatest loves were baseball and music and both flourished when he was young.  He played with a local baseball team and formed a band with some of his friends.  He played the drums.  He married his high school sweetheart and decided to "settle down" and devote himself to her and raise a family.  Luckily she also shared his love of music and it was obvious when they danced together.  Music has always been present in our home and often brings back many joyful memories.

He had always been a man of simple needs and was always a dedicated employee.  He worked in the retail industry for over 40 years and was always grateful for the job he had, from his early days with Gibson's to his later days with Richter's.  His work ethic was evident and a model to strive for.  He loved his family above all others and his ability to provide was proof.  While we did not have the biggest house or the most expensive things, he made sure his family never went without.  Our home was always filled with love, laughter and joy.  All of which were in abundance during birthdays and holidays.  Small weekend getaways with our cousins dot our memories as children.  More often, though, it was all of us gathered in the living room, having a warm dinner mom cooked, watching comedies on tv and just enjoying being together.

His love for our mom never waivered even after her passing and their love for each other is still a shining example of what true love should be...a love that shows in the family he leaves behind.  For no matter what hardships and losses we endure, we know that our bond is strong and that our love of God and family will help carry us past our sorrow.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Guadalupe, his daughter, Lorena, his son, Alejandro and his parents Eulogio and Ruperta and his four siblings.  He is survived by his daughters, Maria Esther (Pablo) Rodriguez and Anna Laura(Daniel) Cedillo, his son, Jose C. Gonzalez, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Yadira Isabel Gonzalez and grandchildren Juan Jose, Javier, Pablo IV, David Antonio, Alysha Bryanna, Daniel Jr,  Alejandro Ramon and Yaritza Ariana.  Also, two brothers-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Also surviving him are other relatives and many friends.
