Obituary

JOSE CAMPOS DAVILA JR.

On October 12, 2024, Jose C. Davila Jr., affectionately known as Chito, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 8, 1949, in Laredo, he was the son of the late Jose C. Davila and Carolina Huerta. He attended both Catholic and public schools before bravely enlisting in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, where he served in the Vietnam War and was on assignment with the  USS Cocopa. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars. After completing his military service and receiving a Honorable Discharge. Jose returned to Laredo and pursued his education at Laredo Junior College. He later worked in the oil industry as a heavy equipment operator.

Tragically, a car accident left Jose disabled, but despite the challenges, he remained an incredibly positive person and always counted himself as blessed by God.

Jose is survived by his siblings Yolanda (+Dr. Jose Gerardo) Garcia, Amelia D. Uralde, Javier C. (+Patricia) Davila, and Mario C. (+Noemi) Davila. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his sister +Rosario (+Arturo) Garza.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Father Janusz Glabinski, PhD from St. Joseph Catholic Church for his spiritual support, as well as to Chito's dedicated caregivers Olga Sarabia, Pati Ayala, Casti Padrón, and Elvira Flores. Our thanks go out to his cousin Antonio Torres Jr. for keeping in touch with him daily. Special gratitude is also given to the ICU staff at Laredo Medical Center, including Gaby, Alyssa, Ashley, Danny, Ashmina, Alfredo, and Javier for their compassionate care during his final days.
