Obituary

JOSE "JOE" M. GUTIERREZ
Jose "Joe" M. Gutierrez, 64, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 at a local hospital.
Mr. Gutierrez was born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and had been a long life resident of Laredo, Texas.
He was a graduate of Laredo Martin High School, "Class of 1972". He was a remembered by many as the one who made the winning touchdown during a famous football game, his senior year,  between Martin and Nixon high school. He also was a  graduate of Laredo State University where he obtained a BA in Accounting. For numerous years, Mr. Gutierrez was employed with Union Pacific Pacific as a crew manager. Later, he became  employed with the Texas Department of Human Services and served the surrounding areas for many years.  He later became the Director of the Buenos Dias Adult Day Care Center, where he served the community for over 20 years.
He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He was a very generous man who always helped anyone in need. As a result of his generous nature and kindness, he grew to be loved by many, especially his Buenos Dias Adult Day Care Family. He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne Gutierrez.
His parents, Roberto Gutierrez and Maria Luisa G. Gutierrez.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 23 years of marriage, Rosalinda De Hoyos Bennett.
His only son, Jose Maria Gutierrez Jr.
Stepdaughters, Darlinda (George) Cantu, Adrienne Lynn Parrish and Alexis (Albert) Martinez.
Grandchildren, J.J., Ray, Joey and Erik Velasquez, Gary, Nai and Itzel Luna, Issac and Ryan Martinez and Liam Barrera.
Brother, Roberto (Debbie) Gutierrez Jr.
Sister, Maria Luisa(Emilio) Martinez.
Longtime Caregiver, Vickie Cerda Jalomo.
Also surviving him are nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil/Rosary of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapel at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal services will be held on a later date.
