JOSE ANTONIO MARTINEZ
Jose Antonio Martinez, 87, of Laredo, Texas passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2018 at his home.
Mr. Martinez was an entrepreneur, a hard working father that supported and raised 14 children. He was a firm believer of a good education and sent his children to Catholic private school. He enjoyed participating at the American Legion and Lulac Council, Boys and Girls Club, Boy Scouts, Chamber of Commerce and the Sacred Heart Children's Home. He also enjoyed music and good movies.

is son, Jorge Javier Martinez, s
ister, Norma Peña, and granddaughter Alejandra Martinez.
Aunt, Maria de Jesus de Leon, who also preceded him in death. She raised him since the age of 8.
Jose is survived by his wife, of 67 years of marriage, Maria Teresa Martinez.
Children, Elsa (Rosa Coleman) Martinez, Jose Antonio Martinez Jr., Gerardo Martinez, Sergio Martinez, Jaime (Guadalupe) Martinez, Mauricio Martinez, +Jorge Martinez, Gilberto (Lourdes) Martinez, Eben (Gabriela) Martinez, Gustavo Martinez, Maria Teresa (Ivan) Sierra, Ana Maria (Luis) Botello, Maria Ana (Alfredo) Ortiz and Kathleen (Jon) Sawicki.
He is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother; Jerry Martinez, Sister; Elva Morales, other relatives and many friends.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Judge George Kazen, his longtime friend. They shared a friendship that spanned decades. Thank you for your Saturday afternoon visits. You kept my Dad aware of world and city news. The family would also like to thank Serenity Hospice, his Nurses, Anna Laura and Robert, and his caregivers, for the special care provided.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the
Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave.
Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapel at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at Hoy Redeemer Catholic Church. Committal services will be held on a later date.
PALLBEARERS WILL BE HIS GRANDSONS: Jose Antonio Martinez III, Jorge Javier Martinez, Jeronimo Andres Martinez, Jorge Vasquez Jr., Marco Antonio Martinez, Gilberto Martinez, Enrique Martinez, Alfredo Ortiz Jr. and Kameron Freels.
