Obituary

Jose Geronimo Treviño Sr.

September 6, 1939 – November 8, 2024

The most Sacred Heart of Jesus called Jose Geronimo Treviño Sr. to His kingdom on November 8, 2024.

Mr. Treviño will be remembered as an exemplary instructional leader who impacted the lives of thousands of students as well as for empowering a multitude of teachers and staff members. His professional career of more than 40 years at United Independent School District included being a teacher, finance assistant director, campus principal at United Intermediate, Clark Middle School and United High School. He was also Director of Discipline Management.

He was a devoted family man who enjoyed going to their ranches – Los Arroyos and El Arenal. As an avid hunter, with his wife and sons, he loved the peacefulness and beauty of nature. Singing and playing his guitar brought him great joy. Jose was a Cowboy's, Astros and Spurs fan. With a passion for Genealogy, he did extensive research on father's and mother's ancestry. He was a founding member of Villa de San Agustin de Laredo Genealogy Society and served for six years as president.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Treviño Sanchez and Maria Antonia Martinez Treviño; in-Laws, Miguel Fernandez Fajardo and Maria Botello Fernandez; grandson, Jose Geronimo (JGito) Trevino, III; sister, Elia T. Canales.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, of 56 years, Mary Treviño; sons, Jose Geronimo Treviño Jr., Carlos Alfonso Treviño and Cid (Leticia) Treviño; grandchildren, Tatiana, Carlos Alfonso, Ethan, Hailey, Cid Jr. and Isabella Treviño. His sisters; Rosa Maria Trevino Castro and Irma Trevino Guerra, as well as other family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 departing from the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Funeral Chapels, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave .  Holy Mass was celebrated at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Interment was held at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Rey Castro Jr., Guillermo Guerra Jr., Mike Fernandez III, Alejandro Canales, Joe Ramirez III and Hector Hernandez II.

Honoree Pallbearers: Rolando Gutierrez.
