Jose Fermin Tristan, Jr., 40, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas.
Mr. Tristan was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served from July 23, 1999 up until his Honorable Discharge in 2021. He made the military his life, he had served in Afghanistan and Iraq and was a fully decorated soldier, he achieved the rank of Captain and had been assigned to HSC 449th ASB NG and later to the HHD 949th SPT BN NG Logistics and engineering. He was decorated with the following medals, Meritorious service medal (2nd Award), Army Commendation Medal (7th Award),Army Achievement Medal (6th Award), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Valorous Unit award, Army Good Conduct Medal(2nd Award), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal W/2 Campaign Stars, Iraq Campaign Medal W/Campaign Star, Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" Device and 10 Year Bronze Hourglass, Kosovo Campaign Medal w/ Bronze Star and the NATO Medal (2nd Award).
Along with his military achievements he had completed a master's degree in Criminal Justice and a master's degree in History.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Pilar and Soledad Tristan and Guillermo Orlachia and Martina Castillo and Father-in-Law Gerardo Gallardo Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Evalinda Noehmi Gallardo Tristan. His children Sarahalizia Amaranta Nieto, Nathan Gallardo, (Jessica Tristan) Natalia Alejandra Tristan, Zoephia Solangel Tristan, and Sadie Bellaluna Tristan; His parents, Jose Fermin Tristan Sr. and Maria Florencia Tristan. Sisters Adriana Tristan (Hector) Laura Leonela Campos, and Carla Arce (Gene). Nieces and Nephews Marcos Alejandro Ojeda, Isabella Marie Tristan, Angelina Sarai Campos, Sofia Nicole Campos, Juan Arce, Jaeden Arce, Peyton Arce, Arian Arce, Hailey Lillian Leal, Daniel Leal III, Jonathan. Rey Castilla, Ella Gallardo, Madison Alexis Castilla, and LJ Gallardo.o
He was an avid accidental adventurer who loved coffee and Pan Dulce (Yellow Conchas). He loved Marvel movies and comics, Gym, Westling , UFC fights , backyard camp fires roasting marshmallows and miscellaneous items with his children. Caifanes music.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 4:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. in the Hernandez,Lopez and Sons Funeral Chapels, 800 Boston ST. and San Bernardo Ave . A rosary will be officiated at 6:00 p.m. by Manuel "Meme" Degollado in the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021 departing from the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Funeral Home. A Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Committal Services and interment will follow in the Laredo City Cemetery Veteran's Section with full Military Honors.
