JOSEFA S. MONTEMAYOR SEPTEMBER 19, 1927 - SEPTEMBER 21, 2013 Josefa passed away peacefully at her place of residence on Saturday. She was born in Taylor, Texas but was a resident of Laredo for most of her life. She was on of four children born to the late Ygnacio and Josefa Silva and was the beloved wife of the late Fire Captain Alfredo Montemayor. They were married for 56 years. "Mapita" as her grandchildren called her will forever be remembered by her devoted children, Bertha (Enrique) Villarreal, Ana (Ricardo) Gomez, Josefina Montemayor, Alfredo Montemayor, Jr. and Hector Montemayor. Her beloved grandchildren, Annette B. Cantu, Karina Cantu (Michael) Hiddemen, Xavier A. Cantu, Sandra Laura Villarreal and Hector Guadalupe Montemayor. Along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her. Josefa was a very caring mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and touched their lives with her caring spirit and humor that she maintained all the way to the end. The family is deeply grateful to Dr. Carlos Llanes who attended to Josefa for many years with the utmost care. Josefa was preceded in death by her brother, Benito Silva and her sister, Estefana Guerrero. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 23, 2013 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
