Obituary

SRA. JOSEFINA MÉNDEZ SOTO

On Monday April 8, 2019 Mrs. Josefina Méndez Soto loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother entered eternal rest in San Antonio, Texas.

Mrs. Soto was born on September 1, 1932 in Yoakum, Texas to the late Faustina Mendez Diaz and Clemente Mendez.

Mrs. Soto in 1953 married Mr. Lauro Soto Martinez and remained married for almost 66 years.

Very early on Josefina learned the love of family was the most important thing in life along with her husband they started a family and raised 10 children – 7 sons and 3 daughters.

As the years passed her family grew spanning three generations her children and welcoming 27 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.

Josefina was known for her loving and nurturing personality she embodied the traditional dotting mother and grandmother pouring her heart in her cooking especially her tamales that she shared with everyone.

Mrs. Soto is proceeded in death by her mother Faustina Mendez Diaz, brothers Jesus Mendez and Roberto Diaz.

Josefina's greatest heartbreak was outliving two of her children that now welcome her in Heaven her two sons.

Gerardo Soto and Lauro Soto now share the kingdom of Heaven with their loving mother.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Lauro Soto Sr. and her children Agustin Soto, Juan Angel Soto, Arturo (Maria G.) Soto, Maria G. Soto (David Santos), Eduardo (Paty) Soto, Luis (Melissa) Soto, Zulema S. (Isauro) Valle and her youngest Sandra S. (Luis Eduardo) Valdez, 27 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by her extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and A Vigil of the Deceased  will be held at 7 p.m.in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Funeral Chapels located at 800 Boston St and San Bernardo Ave. Funeral Services will begin departing the funeral home on Friday, April 12, 2019. A Holy Mass will be celebrated at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church at 9:00 a.m. Committal Services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Information regarding the funeral service departure time and Holy Mass hour may be obtained by calling the funeral home at (956) 723-2979.

The family would appreciate all those that shared a special moment or friendship with Josefina to come and celebrate her life.
