Juan Cruz, 88, was called into eternal rest on Friday, May 5, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Cruz entered this world on May 15, 1934 in Webb County -  born to Leónides Garcia Cruz and Serapio Cruz.

Juan was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He worked hard all his life, and was a retiree of the Laredo Independent School District Child Nutrition Program after 33 years of service. Juan was also a dedicated and active member of Mother Cabrini Church, where he worshiped.

In his retirement years, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family and friends. Juan had a great love for hunting, fishing, traveling, and playing maquinitas.

He would always bring joy to anyone he encountered, and always lived life to the fullest. He was the heart of his family, and will be truly missed.

He is preceded in death by his mother (Leonides Garcia Cruz), father (Serapio Cruz), and brother (Baldemar Cruz).

Juan is survived by the love his life who he shared 66 years of marriage with, Maria Guadalupe Cruz. Daughters: San Juanita Sanchez (Victor Sanchez Jr), Rosalinda Solis (Roberto Solis), Norma Ramirez (Alberto Ramirez), Susana Hinojosa (Gilberto Hinojosa), and Elva Ramos (Jose Antonio Ramos). Grandchildren:  Claudia Ochoa (Richard), Victor Sanchez III, Erika Rodriguez (Jose), Suzy Solis, Tony Ramos (Christina), Linda Moncivais, Albert Ramirez Jr. (Sarah), Valerie Olivares (Gonzalo), Carina Solis (Alberto) and Allison Romero (Artemio). Great-grandchildren: Joey, Alex, Matthew, Katie, Mia, Kendall, Klayton, Jacob, Emma, Harley, Hunter, Ben, Holden, Bear, and Wyatt.

The family would like to express their most heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Zuniga Goldwater, and Las Alturas Nursing Home for their outstanding care and dedication to Mr. Cruz.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave . The Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7:00 PM, cremation services will be at a later date.
