JUANITA T. GAMEZ Juanita T. Gamez died peacefully at the age of 89 on June 16, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Juanita was born on April 3, 1925 in Laredo, Texas. The daughter of Cleotilde Valdez and raised by her grandfather Emerehildo Valdez and aunt Constancia Trevino. In February 3, 1946 Juanita married the love of her life Jose Paz Gamez. They recently celebrated 68 years of marriage. In her early life she was a migrant wife & mother and also worked for 15 years at L.I. S. D. She was a loving & giving woman always willing to help anyone and everyone. Her passion was taking care of her family, she loved to make her delicious homemade tortillas with refried beans every time she had family over. She enjoyed sewing her own table cloths. She was devoted to her birds, chickens, plants and her chihuahua (Chiquita). Juanita was a devoted Catholic and raised her family to follow good morals and values. She is preceded in death by her son, Jose Paz Gamez Jr., (in the line of duty-Border Patrol). Juanita is survived by her loving husband, Jose Paz Gamez. Children, Jose P. Gamez Jr. + (Christina), Gavino (Ermiliana S.) Gamez, Maria (Roberto) Gomez, Juan (Raquel) Gamez, Roberto (Sylvia) Gamez, Gloria (Ricardo) Garza and Richard (Elisa) Gamez. Juanita is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Her beloved sister, Maria T. Gonzalez. Also surviving her are numerous other relatives and many close friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:05 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
