Obituary

"100 Years Loved", Juanita Zambrano Vera, 100 years old, of Laredo, Texas was called by our Lord on, May 8, 2019, after battling with 17 years of Alzheimer's.

Juanita was born to parents Genaro and Antonia Zambrano, on June 11, 1918 in Encinal, Texas.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Genaro and Antonia Zambrano, husband, Juan Vera (Asherton, TX), sons: Juan Ramon, Juan Macedonio, Gilberto, and Jose Li.

Siblings: Jesus Zambrano, Maria Cortez, Manuela Zambrano, Mercedes Flores, and Carolina Santos.

She is survived by: Julia Vera, Los Angeles, Calif., Javier (San Juana) Vera, Corpus Christi, TX, Efrain (Consuelo) Vera, Rosenberg, TX, Maricela (Jose Luis) Chavez, San Antonio, TX, Rolando (Marcela+) Vera, Coppell, TX, Adrian (Josephine) Vera, Laredo, TX, Ricardo Roel (Diana) Vera, Laredo, TX, Maria Argelia (Ernesto)Chapa, McAllen, TX, Mary Edna (Daniel) Gonzalez, Laredo, TX, and Jorge Alberto Vera (Celina Rivera), Laredo, TX,

Daughter-in-law Elodia Vera, Shertz TX.

She is also survived by 38 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Juanita was a woman who dedicated her life to her children and family. She was committed to the service of her church, Mother Cabrini, (where she served in many capacities of leadership) and who loved and was loved by all who came to know her. Her fun loving manner and jovial spirit made all feel loved and welcomed at her house.

She often told her family, "Although I am old, I have "el espiritu de quince ". She was also known by many as, "La mama de los Tigers". She volunteered at many school events and was most proud when she worked at a school as a teacher assistant.

She truly loved children and helped raise many of her grandchildren, tirelessly giving of herself and her time. Grandma "Nito", as she was affectionately called, will always be remembered as the fun grandma that hosted countless sleepovers at her house.

Our most sincere gratitude and appreciation to: Dr. Alex Blanco, Joy, Michelle, Ramiro, and the rest of the wonderful nursing staff at Laredo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Thank you to a wonderful family friend and our mother's private sitter, Silvia Maldonado Lopez, who provided excellent care and affection towards our mother during the last 5 years of her life.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 departing from the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Holy Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal services and interment  followed at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

PALLBEARERS WERE: Javier Vera, Efrain Vera, Rolando Vera, Adrian Vera, Ricardo Roel Vera, Jorge Alberto Vera, Daniel Gonzalez, Daniel Gonzalez Jr., Aaron Gonzalez, Ernesto J. Chapa and Jose Luis Chavez.
