JULIA G. PORTILLO
Julia G. Portillo, 66, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at a local hospital.
Ms. Portillo was born Laredo, Texas and was a lifelong resident. She was a Teacher and worked at J. W. Nixon High School, for 30 years. She enjoyed teaching World History and Computers. She also taught CCD classes, at Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Jude Catholic Churches, where she was a also a member of both Choirs. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Enrique and Giulia B. Portillo.
Sisters, Lucilla Beati , Catalina Garza and Anna Laura Marquez.
She survived by her sister, Yolanda Beati.
Devoted companion, Javier Sanchez.
Nephews and nieces, Molly (Luis) Deleza, Ferdinando (Guadalupe) Marquez, Lucy T. Marquez, Enrique (Elva) Garza, Jose Guadalupe (Kimberly S.) Garza, Sandra Garza, Ronnie and Donnie Garza, Andy (Janice) Marquez, Alex Marquez, Linda (Jason Kennett) Deleza, Luis (Ally) Deleza Jr., Mario Deleza, Andrea Marquez and Sebastian F. Marquez.
Grandnephews and nieces, Leiya Olivia Kennett, Luna Skye Kennett, Marco Andres Marquez, Jaciel Marquez, Logan Deleza and Christopher Deleza.
Also surviving him are other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be officiated by Deacon Ray Guevara at 7 p.m. in the
Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave.
A Chapel service will be officiated by Deacon Ray Guevara at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
