ZULEMA GARCIA RAMOS Zulema Garcia Ramos has peacefully passed away at the age of 96. She now joins the love of her life, Esteban who passed away at age of 65 in 1978. Together they raised seven sons and three daughters. Never a dull moment, they gave of themselves to each other and to every one of us with lots of love, devotion, and advise, (God knows we should have listened). She was the rock of the family. All the blessings that the God Lord can bestow upon her soul. Its going to be very hard not having her with us, But it is rewarding to know she will finally be reunited with her love an soul mate and together will receive the rewards from our Lord Jesus. The eldest of five children she grew up in the rural town of Aguilares along with her siblings Eduardo (Tomasita) Garcia, Damiana (Nick) Lopez, Blanca (Jose) Arce and Belia (Rene) Dufresne now all deceased, including her mother Maria Paredes Garcia and her father Tomas Garcia, A ranch foreman employed by Bruni family in the surrounding pueblitos. Soon after their father died grandma and the kids moved to Laredo where mom continued to help her mother raise the rest of the kids. She is preceded in death by her Daughter, Sylvia Ana Ramos, Her sons, Alonzo and Sammy Ramos. Also by her close friend and sister-in-law, Carmen Piton. She is survived by her children, Esteban (Anna) Ramos, Zulema (Tomas) Gonzalez, Tomas (Alicia) Ramos, Roberto (Gigi) Ramos, Manuel (Lydia) Ramos, Gracie Verastegui and Jorge Ramos, and by her only surviving sister-in-law, Amparo Ramos Pena. 38 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Also surviving her are nephews, nieces, other relatives and numerous friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapel, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2015 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
