Laurentina V. Villarreal passed away November 22, 2011 at the age of 71, surrounded by her husband, daughters and sister. Laurentina was an educator, graduating from Ursuline Academy, Incarnate Word University and earning her master's degree from Texas A & I University. She furthered her education towards her doctorate at the University of Texas, along with numerous certificates of education. She retired in 2001 after 35 years of service. Most recently she was supervisor of the Migrant Program for LISD. Laurentina was passionate about enhancing the education and reading skills of migrant children, recruiting the best educators. She traveled the school system and state conferences where key speakers and noted reading specialists would expand the programs Laurentina was enthusiastic and devoted about. Laurentina was preceded in death by her father Eulalio Valdes Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years Oscar L Villarreal daughters Ruth Land Ruby L Villarreal, her mother Elida Valdes, brothers Eulalio Ill and Carlos Valdes and sister Sonia V Hundsnurscher. Also surviving her are numerous other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held Monday November 28 2011 from 4:00pm to 9:00 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7:00pm in the Hernandez Lopez & Sons Funeral Home, 800 Boston Street and San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 am on Tuesday November 29, 2011 departing from the funeral chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at Saint Patrick's Church at 9:00am. Interment will follow to Laredo City Cemetery where Laurentina will be laid to rest next to her father and other relatives
