Obituary

LAURO SOTO MARTINEZ

( Rosary live link )

Our heavenly Father has called Lauro Soto Martinez home as promised by our faith.

" He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.

He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake."

Psalm 23:2-3

Our father Lauro was born November 5, 1930, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, the second son of the late Felipa Martinez Gutierrez and Agustin Soto Galvan and long-life resident of Laredo, Texas.

In 1953, he married Josefina Mendez Diaz. Lauro and Josefina went on to have ten children. With our Lord's blessings, that seedling has spanned in to three generations, with twenty-seven grandchildren, fifty-one great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

From a very young age, our father loved the ranch life and carried that with him. Those who knew our father will remember him for his love of cowboy hats, great cabrito, good music and a cold beer to enjoy the fruits of his labor. Our dad wore many hats, from working as a truck driver in Mexico to working in the fields of North America as a migrant worker.

Our father's greatest heartbreak was losing his father at a very young age, outliving two of his sons and much later losing his beloved wife whom he affectionately called his "Una Dama o Su Reina."

Our family chain is broken,

And nothing seems the same,

But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.

-Ron Tranmer
