LEONOR "NONI" VALDEZ MUñOZ
DECEMBER 12, 1929 – NOVEMBER 22, 2016
Leonor "Noni" Valdez Muñoz was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven and granted eternal rest on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.
Noni was a devoted and loving wife to her husband Oscar, loving daughter and sister. She adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Noni and Oscar were extremely active in the community when their children were in school. They led by example, encouraging their children to become active in the community as volunteers too. They were active in numerous civic organizations and making many friends throughout their lives.
Noni was preceded in death by her husband, of 65 years of marriage, Oscar M., her mother, Belia L. Barrientos, her father, James Valdez, her sister, Olga B. Zamora, and her in-laws, Manuel and Rebeca Muñoz.
Noni will be deeply missed by her loving children, Oscar J. (Norma) of La Vernia, Nora Muñoz (Dr. Francisco A.) Leal, Jose G, Cora Muñoz (Rodney) Rowton of New Braunfels. She will also be missed by her brothers, Gilberto (Elva) Barrientos and Rogelio (Elsa) Barrientos, of San Antonio.
Missing her also are her adoring grandchildren, Marissa (Benito) Burtka and Cristina (Daniel) Garcia. She also leaves behind 3 great-grandchildren, Ofelia Burtka, Noah and Eva Garcia.
She will be missed by her wonderful caregiver and friend, Cristina Muñoz.
Noni leaves behind numerous friends, nephews and nieces, many cousins and neighbors.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 10 a.m. in the
Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m on Saturday, November 26, 2016 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
