Obituary

MISS LILIA "LILY" PEREZ Miss Lilia "Lily" Perez, 81, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at a local hospital. Lilia affectionately known as "Lily" was a lifelong resident of Laredo. During her lifetime she was employed as a manager with JC Penny and prior to her time there with the S.H. Kress Department Store. She was very active parishioner for a number of years in the parish of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, particularly in helping with the parish fund raisers and the dispensing and distributing of food to the local families. She is most remembered for being the first woman elected Webb County Commissioner for Precinct 4, a position she held from November 8, 1982 to December 31, 1984. She was a remarkable, caring and loving woman and will be dearly missed by everyone whose heart she touched. She is preceded in death by her parents, Amado and Beatriz Perez. Uncles, Mr. Guadalupe Ramos and Andres Ramos. Aunt, Elisa Ramos. Cousins, Manuel Ramos and Concepcion Arredondo. Nephew, Hector Garcia. She is survived by her sister, Alicia (Tony) Garcia. Niece, Adriana Garcia. Grandnephew, Hector Vasquez. Cousins, Gil (Guadalupe) Rodriguez, Gloria Fernandez, Cecilia Castanon, Guillermo (Guadalupe) Ramos, Rolando (Guadalupe) Herrera and Jose (Dorothy) Vargas . Dear Friends, Maria Guadalupe Davila, Adriana Davila, Simon and Maria Aguirre, Their children: Rene (Clarissa) Aguirre, Ana (Mario) Soto, Roberto (Carmen) Aguirre, Octavio (Sylvia) Aguirre, and their grandchildren: Octavio Simon Aguirre, Jr., Sofia Leonor Aguirre, Amanda Aguirre and Emily Soto. Also surviving her are numerous other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2013 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
