Obituary

LINDA WISE TREVIñO
Linda Wise Treviño, 67, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016, i n Methodist Hospital, San Antonio, after a sudden illness.
Linda was a beloved teacher and volleyball coach at Martin High School. She also taught at Lamar Middle School and in the Houston area.

Linda was an artist who worked with colorful fabric, beads, tassels and feathers to create one-of-a-kind purses, which she called "pouches". She was known for her love of animals, taking in strays and saving stranded animals on highways. She always had a crew of cats in her household whom she loved as though they were her children. As evidence of that love, she had requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Laredo Animal Protective Society, 2500 Gonzalez St.

Linda had an insatiable appetite for reading, learning and expanding her mind. Her book shelves overflowed, and a trip to a bookstore was like a visit to a toy store for a child.

Linda attended St. Christopher Elementary School and Mt. Carmel High School in Houston, and the University of Miami, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in education.

Linda loved the 1960's and her favorite singer was Donovan whom she met and stayed in touch with. She also loved Janis Joplin, the Beach Boys and the Beatles.

Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Consuelo (Chelo) Wise Treviño, and her father, Humberto V. Treviño, a WWII veteran who took part in the D-Day invasion. She is survived by a host of loving family members, including her brother, Tito Treviño of Fort Dodge. Iowa; one uncle, Daniel Wise of Laredo; six nieces and nephews, Angela Treviño, Michael Treviño, Maria Treviño Meyer, Katherine Treviño, Olivia Treviño, Alejandro Treviño; and numerous cousins and other relatives, The family thanks the many family and friends who loved and cared for Linda.
