LUCIANO ELOY SOSA JR.
Luciano Eloy Sosa, Jr., 83, of Laredo, passed away Wednesday morning, September 4, 2024.
Eloy was born July 21, 1941 in Laredo, Texas and was a lifelong resident.
He attended Martin High School, after graduation he joined the armed forces and served with the
U.S. Navy USS Marias (AO-57) from Sept.1962 to Sept. 1966 and was ranked as Seaman (E4).
He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal. He later was released from active duty
with an Honorable Discharge and returned to Laredo. He had a long career with the Tex-Mex Railroad.
He was married for 44 years to Maria Carlota "Chale" Caballero Sosa and loved and cherished his family.
Eloy was an honorable man; devoted husband, wonderful father and grandfather, great brother and son,
and beloved friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his wife Maria Carlota Caballero Sosa, his son Luciano Eloy Sosa, III, his parents
Luciano Eloy Sosa, Sr. and Alicia Gonzalez Sosa, his brother PFC Jorge Sosa, and sister Alicia Argimira
Sosa Herrera.
He is survived by his daughter Cynthia Lorena Sosa and his grandson Joaquin Daniel Piña,
his brothers Eduardo (Manuela) Sosa, Daniel (Hilda+) Sosa, Salvador (Norma) Sosa, and Ricardo
(Ann) Sosa. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He loved life.When you remember him, celebrate his life with stories, laughter, joy, and smiles.
Also surviving him are other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 departing from the Hernandez Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave. A Liturgy of the word, officiated by Rev . Deacon Rogelio "Roger" Martinez, was held in the funeral home chapel before committal services and interment which followed with Military Honors held in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
PALLBEARERS WERE: Eduardo Sosa, Daniel Sosa, Salvador Sosa, Ricardo Sosa, Carlos Quintanilla, Antonio Garcia, Joaquin Daniel Piña, Alyssa Alana Tamez and Anissa Andrea Tamez.
Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Hernandez Lopez And Sons Funeral Chapels located at 800 Boston St. in San Bernardo Avenue.
