Obituary

LUIS LUNA
Luis Luna, 70, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Laredo, Texas.
Mr. Luna was born and raised in Laredo, Texas and had been a lifelong resident.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War Era where he served the United States Air Force, entering on September 24, 1965.
He did his Airman Basic training in San Antonio, Texas. During his Military Career, he was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Medal and reached the rank of Master Sargent before being Honorably Discharged in December, 2009.
Mr. Luna was also a member of the local American Legion, Post 59.
Prior to joining the Union Pacific Railroad, in 1981, Louie was a Captain for the Laredo Fire Department. During this time, he was an instructor at the Spanish Fireman's Training School at Texas A&M University, in Bryan, Texas. Louie was also a member of the Contract Negotiators and City Bargaining Committee. He was later awarded a plaque in recognition for establishing The Laredo Fire Firefighter's Association.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Esther A. Luna.

He is survived by his father,  Adalberto A Luna Sr.
Brother, Adalberto A. (Rosa+) Luna Jr.
Sisters, Maria Luisa (Ricardo+) Gonzalez and Gloria (Francisco) Camacho.
Brothers, Martin Luna and Jorge A. (Magdalena) Luna Sr.
His partner in life, Diana.
Son, Louis J. Luna.
Daughter, Tanya Jo Luna.
Other brothers and sisters, Anna Maria Schaffer, Yvonne Verta, Aracelli Luna, Dinorah Treviño, Diana Luna Mathis, Yvette Luna Kenealy, Frank Luna, Humberto Luna and Pat Luna Patiño.
Also surviving him are nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons East Chapel, 4500 Thomas Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:05 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow in the Laredo City Cemetery, Veteran's Section.
