Obituary

LUIS M. RAMIREZ SR. Luis M. Ramirez Sr., 77, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012 in San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Ramirez was a member of the Raymond and Tirza Martin High School Basball Program having played as a pitcher with the team throughout his high school years. He proudly participated in the teams competitions that included an apperance in the 1952 Texas State Tournament at which he set a State Record by striking out 7 consecutive batters in a 1989. Luis was honored together with 1952 high school team as group inductees and again in 1998 as an individual inductee into the Laredo Latin American International Sports Hall of Fame. Afterwards Mr. Ramirez was a player with the Corpus Christi Clippers, The Laredo Apaches and The Nuevo Laredo Tecolotes Baseball Teams. He also served as an umpire with the Noon Optimist Senior League of Laredo for numerous years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elena Guadalupe Luna Ramirez who passed away on April 6, 2000. Parents, Abraham and Florinda Ramirez. Brother, Candelario Ramirez. Sister, Virginia Aguilar. He is survived by his children, Gloria E. (Santos) Reyes, Luis M. Ramirez Jr., Abraham A. Ramirez and Enrique A. Ramirez. Grandchildren, Luis Ramirez III, Abraham (Cassandra) Reyes, Steven Ramirez, Christine Reyes and Macario Ramirez. Great-grandchildren, Kayley Reyes, Kayden Reyes and Ayden Reyes. Brothers, Abraham (Celia) Ramirez and Ramiro (Oralia) Ramirez. Sister-in-Law, Maria Luisa Ramirez. Also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the ICU Staffs at Northeast Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, The Laredo Specialty Hospital and Laredo Medical Center for the wonderful and loving care they extended to Mr. Ramirez and his family during his illness. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery
