Manuel C. Cruz, 85, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022 in Laredo, Texas. He was born in Laredo, Texas and was a lifelong resident. Manuel also known as Meme or Don Manuel was a devout Catholic man, and a proud member of the Holy Name Society of San Luis Rey Catholic Church. In his spare time from work, he would gladly volunteer for church function activities at the annual Jamaica.

Manuel loved playing softball, and salt water fishing when he visited friends in Brownsville, Texas. in his later years he loved watching the Astros and the Dallas Cowboys games. He was a hard worker and worked in the Oil Fields, then transitioned to truck driver and reading water meters in the oil fields. He was last employed by City of Laredo before retiring in 2013.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, of 65 years of marriage, Maria Luisa Cruz.

Sisters, Aurora Moncivais and Guadalupe C. San Miguel.

He is survived by his Children, Manuel C. (Hulda) Cruz Jr. Hebbronville, Texas, Leticia Cruz-Austin, Texas, Raymundo (Peggy Q) Cruz- Georgetown, Texas, Diana Cruz-Austin, Texas, Alberto Cruz-San Antonio, Texas, Sylvia Cruz-Laredo, Texas, Irma Cruz-Laredo, Texas and Edna (Jeff W.) Milliman-Laredo, Texas.
Grandchildren, Manuel C. Cruz III,-San Antonio, Texas, Vanessa B. (JD) Alonzo-Edinburg, Texas, Angel I. (Glouria) Cruz-Hebbronville, Texas and  Amanda Lee (Tim) Lombrana-Austin, Texas.

Also surviving him are numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 departing from the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Holy Mass was celebrated at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment followed at the Laredo City Cemetery.
