Obituary

MANUEL R. VILLARREAL Manuel R. Villarreal, joined our Lord in His Heavenly Kingdom on Monday, June 4, 2012, with his loving family by his side. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Manuel spent his life serving the community of Laredo by doing what he loved most. He was a gas attendant most of his life. He took great pride in his work and was well known for his professionalism, quality of service and dedication to his job. Rain or shine, heat or cold he always wore a smile on his face. Twenty-six years of his career were spent working and managing the Fina gas station. After the closing of Fina, he worked for Arguindegui Oil for eight years. After retiring from Arguindegui Oil he realized that working and serving the public was what he dearly loved. He went to work for Gonzalez Exxon for the next thirteen years until the closing of the station. There he made some very special friendships that he cherished very much. At the young age of 84, he reluctantly made the decision to stay home. The last years of his retired life were spent loving, accompanying, and caring for his "Honey". Every minute of their day was spent together. Their 60 years of marriage was one to be admired. Never a bad word spoken; never a raised voice; always a smile and twinkle in those beautiful blue eyes. He did little things that made a difference to those he loved like visiting his sisters on his days off, treating his family to breakfast on Wednesday mornings, never allowing anyone to pick up the tab, and bringing home little treats from work for his grandkids. He was dedicated to the parish of St. Frances Cabrini Church, his wife, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew and adored him. He was preceded in death by his sister, Maria De Jesus Lara. Brothers, Juan Villarreal and Benito Villarreal. Parents, Vicente and Paz Villarreal. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years of marriage, Elvira B. Villarreal. Sons and Daughters, Paz (Arnoldo Salinas) Gonzalez, Manuel Villarreal Jr., Celestina (Mario Martinez) Serna, Benito (Kristine) Villarreal and Veronica (Rene) Rocha. 13 grandchildren, Jesus Angel Gonzalez, Belinda Elvira Gonzalez, Amanda Coleen (Jerry) Aguero, Geronimo Gerardo (Eliza) Villarreal, Manuel (Adrienne) Villarreal III, Carlos Hernandez Jr., Cesar B. (Sherri) Hernandez, Christopher Ben, Ilyssa Kristine, Manuel Alberto Villarreal, Rene Rocha Jr., Alyssa Leanne Rocha and Ronaldo Rocha. 12 great-grandchildren. Sisters, Cecilia Ortiz, Juventina Villarreal, Maria Altagracia "Quita" Villarreal and by his brother, Tomas Rodriguez. Brothers and Sisters-In Law. Also by the Barraza and Medina Families. Also surviving him are numerous other relatives and many many friends. Our family would like to send out the most sincerest "Thank you" to Dr. Horacio Diaz and his staff for treating our father like he was part of their family.
