Marcelino Cabrera, 71, was called home by the Lord on February 13, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. He shared 52 years of marriage with his wife, Maria Del Refugio Cabrera.
Marcelino was born in Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, Mexico and had been a long time resident of Laredo, Texas. He belonged to Blessed Sacrament Church and worked at El Metro Transit in the bus maintenance department for 16+ years. Marcelino loved to spend time fishing and gardening but especially loved to teach and share these passions with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Marcelino and Anita Cabrera; grandfather and grandmother, Felipe and Rafaela Lazos; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Magdaleno and Juanita Palacios.
He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Cabrera; his sons Marcelino Cabrera III and Mark Anthony Cabrera; son and daughter-in-law, Miguel Angel and Helen Cabrera; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Adolfo Buentello III; sister and brother-in-law, Petra and Paulino Rivera; brother and sister-in-law, Roberto and Jane Cabrera; Grandchildren, Rey, Alex, and Marlene Cabrera; Mark Anthony III; Liliana, Ariana, and Christian Cabrera; Miguel Cabrera and Summer Vela; and Luna and Dahlia Buentello.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on the 2200 block of Galveston in Laredo, Texas. Committal services and interment will then follow at the Laredo City Cemetery.
