MARIA GUADALUPE "AMA" CRUZ

Maria Guadalupe "Ama" Cruz, 90, was called into eternal rest on Monday, May
6th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Cruz entered the world on December 21st, 1933 – born to Trinidad de
Castañeda and Ignacio Vargas.
Mrs. Cruz was known as "Ama" to everyone who knew and loved her. After
retiring from the Laredo Independent School District Child Nutrition Program,
Ama fully dedicated herself to her late husband Juan Cruz and to her growing
family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her 5
daughters, 12 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Ama was a devoted
member of Mother Cabrini Church for her entire life – she always put God and her
family first. In her later years, Ama enjoyed traveling, taking trips to casinos,
spending weekends playing bingo, and overall being surrounded by her family
who cherished her.
Maria Guadalupe "Ama" Cruz is preceded in death by the love of her life, and
husband of 66 years, Juan Cruz who passed away on May 5, 2023.
Ama will be greatly missed by her daughters: San Juanita Sanchez (Victor Sanchez
Jr.), Rosalinda Solis (Roberto Solis), Norma Ramirez (Alberto Ramirez), Susana
Hinojosa (Gilberto Hinojosa), and Elva Ramos (Jose Antonio Ramos Jr.)
Grandchildren: Claudia Ochoa (Richard), Victor Sanchez III, Erika Rodriguez (Jose),
Suzy Solis, Brandon Solis (Christina), Monica Solis Lugo (Paco), Tony Ramos
(Christina), Linda Moncivais, Albert Ramirez Jr. (Sarah), Valerie Olivarez (Gonzalo),
Carina Solis (Alberto) and Allison Romero (Artemio).
Great-grandchildren: Joey, Alex, Matthew, Katie, Mia, Kendall, Klayton, Jacob,
Emma, Harley, Hunter, Ben, Holden, Bear, Wyatt, Hailey, Jaime, Bella, Brandon,
Paquito, and baby August who will be born later this year.
The family would like to express their most heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Zuniga
Goldwater, and to Ama's caregiver and dear friend Leonor Arredondo.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 10th from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM in
the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San
Bernardo Ave. The rosary will be held at 7:00 PM and officiated by Rev. Deacon Miguel Vallarta.

Committal services and interment will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 27, 2024 and officiated by Rev. Deacon Leonardo Aguillon in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Funeral services are under the direction of the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave.
