Our beloved Maria del Carmen Cadena, age 81, of Laredo, Texas was called by the Lord to his resting place in heaven on Friday, May 3, 2019.
She was born on May 1, 1938 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamps Mexico. She was a wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was unselfish and always thought of others first. She helped strangers with food and money inspite of having limited resources of her own. She was a giving and loving person. Life threw challenges in her life as always she would have a positive outlook on life. She was a strong woman who would use humor to defuse troubles. Her children saw her as perfect mother that instill kindness, compassion for others and generosity.
She is survived by her husband, of 59 years, Victoriano Cadena; her children, Ana Cadena, Lourdes Cadena, Jose G. Cadena, Minerva Cadena and Victor M. Cadena; and grandchildren Amanda Acosta, Alyssa Acosta, Jorge Alberto Acosta, Jr., Victor M. Cadena II and Joseph Andrew Cadena. Also surviving siblings Ernesto Ayala, Maria del Jesus Saldana and Otilia Villareal.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 4 pm to 9 pm with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 pm in the
Hernandez-Lopez & Sons, 800 Boston Street Laredo, Texas.
Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapel at 8:05 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
