Maria Luisa Degollado Ramirez, 74, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012. Mrs. Ramirez is preceded in death by her parents Alfredo and Maria Luisa Degollado and her brother Jorge Guadalupe Degollado. She worked in Joe Brand (downtown) for many years as head cashier before she married and devoted her life to her husband and children. A hardworking housewife to her family but to others she was known as the cookie lady. Whether it was a birthday, wedding, holiday, or just because her famous ojarascas, carrot cake, rum cakes, and empanadas were always in demand. She is survived by her husband of 44 years of marriage, Galo F. Ramirez; children, Julia Melissa (Andres) Juarez, Gabriella Herlinda, Luis Adrian, Rene Mario, her pride and joy, her grandson Andres Rene; her brother, David (Joan) Degollado, Gloria Alicia Degollado, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, countless cousins, and uncles. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 4 pm to 9 pm Hernandez, Lopez & Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave. A Vigil of the Deceased officiated by Deacon Jerry Morales will be recited at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
