MARIA ELENA CAPILLA

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Maria Elena Capilla, who passed away on Tuesday, August 25th, 2026; at the age of 85 in Laredo, Texas; surrounded by the love of her family.

Maria Elena was born on March 19, 1941, in the city of Pátzcuaro, Michoacán. Throughout her life, she lived in Mexico City and Nuevo Laredo before settling permanently in Laredo, Texas, where she spent the remainder of her life.

Maria Elena was an exemplary mother, a devoted wife, and a wonderful friend. She lived a life filled with love and dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her 13 children, leaving an everlasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her sister, Maria Teresa (Arturo Perez); her children, Maria de Los Angeles, Silvia, †Jaime, Mercedes, Lolys, Diana, Eduardo, Jose Luis, Norma Patricia, Marco Antonio, Ricardo, Laura, and Juan Carlos; as well as her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

We will always remember her incredible generosity, her kindness, her warrior spirit, her love of dancing and music, her witty and unforgettable personality, and the infinite, unconditional love and devotion she gave to her 13 children every single day.

She leaves behind a void that can never be filled, but also an everlasting legacy of strength and love within each of us.

Funeral Services

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Funeral Chapels, located at 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave. A Vigil of the Deceased will be officiated at 7:00 p.m. that evening in the funeral home chape. Funeral Services will begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday, morning August 31, 2026 departing in procession from the funeral home Chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal Services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Con profundo dolor y tristeza anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestra querida Madre; Maria Elena Capilla, ocurrido el pasado Martes 25 de Agosto de 2026; à la edad de 85 años en la ciudad de Laredo, Texas; rodeada por el amor de sus seres queridos.

Maria Elena, nacio el 19 de Marzo de 1941 en la ciudad de Patzcuaro, Michoacan. En el transcurso de su vida, vivio en ciudad de Mexico, ciudad de Nvo. Laredo, estableciendose por completo en la ciudad de Laredo, Texas donde vivio por el resto de su vida.

Maria Elena fue una madre ejemplar, una esposa devota y una amiga maravillosa. Vivio una vida llena de amor en completa dedicacion a sus 13 hijos, dejando una huella imborrable en todos los que la conocieron.

Le sobreviven su hermana, Maria Teresa (Arturo Perez); sus hijos, Maria de Los Angeles, Silvia, +Jaime, Mercedes, Lolys, Diana, Eduardo, Jose Luis, Norma Patricia, Marco Antonio, Ricardo, Laura y Juan Carlos; sobrinos, nietos, bisnietos.

Recordaremos siempre su gran generosidad, su bondad, su espiritu guerrero, su amor al baile y à la musica, su personalidad tan ocurrente y su infinito amor y dedicacion incondicional que brindo cada dia a sus 13 hijos.

Deja un vacio imposible de llenar, pero tambien un legado eterno de fortaleza y amor en cada uno de nosotros.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el domingo 30 de agosto de 2026, de 4:00 p. m. a 9:00 p. m., en las capillas funerarias Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, ubicadas en la intersección de Boston St. y San Bernardo Ave. Esa misma tarde, a las 7:00 p. m., se oficiará una vigilia por la difunta en la capilla de la funeraria. Los servicios funerarios comenzarán el lunes 31 de agosto de 2026 a las 8:30 a. m., partiendo en cortejo fúnebre desde la capilla de la funeraria. La Santa Misa se celebrará a las 9:00 a. m. en la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe (Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church). Posteriormente, tendrán lugar los servicios de sepelio y el entierro en el cementerio católico Calvary (Calvary Catholic Cemetery).
