The life of Maria Elena Lopez was anchored in Laredo, Texas, where she cultivated enduring relationships and became known for her integrity and devotion. Her generous spirit touched the lives of many, as she offered unwavering support and gentle guidance through every season of life. She will be remembered not only for the warmth and kindness she extended to those around her, but also for the strength she demonstrated in the face of life’s challenges.
Maria Elena’s journey was one shaped by commitment, pride, and a steadfast sense of purpose. Throughout her lifetime, she became an influential presence in her community, forging lasting bonds and fostering an environment of compassion and respect. Friends and acquaintances recognized her for her wisdom, her sense of fairness, and her ability to bring comfort where it was needed most. Her contributions to the community and her enduring legacy are a source of inspiration for all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Juan Jesus Lopez, her son, Raymundo Lopez, granddaughter, Emily Diane Lopez and by her parents, Juan Andrade and Antonia Ibarra and by her brothers, Ramon Andrade and Rogelio Andrade.
Left to Cherish her legacy are her children, Elizabeth Lopez Alvarado (Ricardo Alvarado), Marina Lopez Trevino (Rodolfo Trevino Jr.), Homero Lopez (Edith Lopez), Julio Cesar Lopez (Adriana Yvette Lopez) and Juan Jesus Lopez Jr.

Grandchildren: Ricky Alvarado Jr., Nicole S. Alvarado, Ashley Alvarado, Jazelle Alvarado, EddieTrevino, Samantha D. Bowers, Andrew D. Trevino, Linda Lopez, Monica Flores, Raymundo Lopez Jr., Homero Lopez Jr., Luis A. Lopez, Julio C. Lopez Jr., Marco A.Lopez, Amanda Lopez Wilson, JavierJ. Lopez, Alexa D. Lopez, Ivan A. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Maria Elena are invited to celebrate her memory and honor her legacy at several gatherings. Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary held at 7:00 p.m., both at Hernandez Lopez & Sons Funeral Chapel, 800 Boston St, Laredo, TX 78041. On Monday, July 20, a procession will begin at 8:30 a.m. from the same chapel, followed by a Mass at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1718 San Jorge Ave., Laredo, TX 78040. Cremation will follow at Hernandez Lopez & Sons Funeral Chapel.
Though words may only begin to capture the richness of her life and the depth of her character, Maria Elena Lopez’s legacy endures—etched in the memories of all who knew her and in the countless acts of kindness she leaves behind. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her example will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
