MARIA DE JESUS ESCALERA Maria de Jesus Escalera, 64, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at a local hospital. Mrs. Escalera was born in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and had been a long life resident of Laredo, Texas. She is preceded in death by her father, Miguel Gallegos. Son, Mario Escalera. Daughter, Laura Alicia Escalera. Sister, Angelica Hernandez. She is survived by her loving husband, Jose Escalera. Children, Maricela (Ezequiel) Alarcon, Jose Manuel (Laura) Escalera, Maria De Jesus (Erasmo) Mendoza, Miguel Angel (Mirna) Escalera and Juan Carlos (Laura) Escalera. 17 Grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mother, Maria F. Segovia. Brothers, Miguel Angel Gallegos, Guillermo Gallegos, Francisco Gallegos and Efrain Gallegos. Also surviving her are other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 2 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Northside Chapel, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
