Maria Ignacia H. Medrano , 98, formerly of Lansing, Michigan and Laredo, Texas, passed away on March 1, 2022, at her home in Buda, Texas. Mrs. Medrano was born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 8, 1923.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years Eleno Medrano, parents Jesus Hernandez Flores and Tomasa Prieto Zendejas, daughter Maria Elena Estrada, brothers Jesus P. Hernandez, Hilario Zendejas, Jose Angel Hernandez Bosquez, and great great-granddaughter Savadia Marie DeLaCruz.

She is survived by her son, Francisco Medrano, son-in-law Mario Estrada, daughters Eliza (Antonio) Cervantes, Elvira (Jose) Pizaña, Evangelina (Rafael) Delgado, 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 14 great great-grandchildren, sisters Ignacia Hernández (Jorge) Castro, Rosalinda Hernández (Fernando) Martinez, Margarita Hernández (Willie) Carballo, Rafaela Hernández (Fernando) Ordonez, brothers Juan Hernández Bosquez, Remigio Hernández Bosquez, Jesús Hernández Bosquez, Ricardo Hernández Bosquez, numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends in Michigan, Ohio, Missouri, and Texas.

Maria lived a long and prosperous life and loved spending time with her family.   She also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Her hobbies were deer hunting with her husband, bowling, and sewing, specifically baby pillows and blankets for all of her grandkids. Maria and Eleno were married in Laredo, Texas in 1944 but soon moved to Michigan where they raised their family and settled down in Lansing, Michigan. After retirement in 1978, they returned to Laredo, Texas where they lived until Eleno's passing in 2005. Maria then moved to Austin/Buda, Texas with her daughter Evangelina and family but would travel annually to Michigan & Ohio to spend her summers with the rest of her family.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 6 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave .  A chapel service will be officiated at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers – Grandsons Frank Medrano, Jr., Mario Estrada, Jr., Marcos Estrada, Martin Estrada, Joe David Pizaña, and Rafael Delgado, III.

Alternate Pallbearers – Great-grandsons Marcos Estrada, Jr. and Carlos Gill.
