MARIA JOSEFINA "JOSIE" GONZALEZ
Maria Josefina "Josie" Gonzalez, 76, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 at a local hospital.
Mrs. Gonzalez was born in Torrington, Wyoming and was a long life resident of Laredo, Texas. Mrs. Gonzalez worked at J. C. Penny for 35 years. She was a Eucharistic Minister and CCD Teacher at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church, for many years. Mrs. Gonzalez was an active bowler and was responsible for starting the San Martin De Porres Bowling League. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was a firm believer that "A family who prays together, stays together."
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ramiro P. Gonzalez Sr.
Parents, Roberto and Francisca Tobias Sr.
Brothers, Juan Antonio Tobias and Jose Santos Tobias.
Sisters, Norma Jimenez and Gloria Tobias.
She is survived by her children, Frances (Joe M.) Puente, Ramiro (Leonor) Gonzalez Jr., Sandra Morales, Ana L. (Cris) Rodriguez and Esmeralda (Peter) Garibay.
Grandchildren, Cesario (Kimberly) Morales Jr., Amaris (Randal) Orosco, Steven (Kristi) Gutierrez Jr., Sabrina Sanchez, Senaida Morales, Danny Rodriguez, Kassandra Gonzalez, Petey Garibay, Scottie Gutierrez, Leah Garibay, Jeffrey Rodriguez, Jose Antonio (Astrid) Ayala, Jazmin (Hugo) Garrdea.
17 great grandchildren.
Siblings, Roberto (Maria) Garza, Hilda Gonzalez, Ana (Roberto) Garza, Maria del Pilar Solis, Roberto (Nydia) Tobias Jr., Vilma Holguin, Janie (Juan) Garcia, Martin (Renee) Tobias, Gabriel (Mitzi) Tobias and Laura (George) Salinas.
Also surviving her are other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the
Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave.
Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
