MARIA de la Luz Avila Maria de la Luz Avila, 79, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014 in Laredo, Texas. Mrs. Avila was born in Laredo, Texas and had been a life long resident. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fidencio Olvera and Maria Olvera. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years of marriage, Alberto Felipe Avila. Sons, Juan Alberto Avila and Daniel (Leticia Corina) Avila. Daughters, Maria Domitila (Armando) Palomo and Lucy Araceli Garcia and Hector Leyva. 15 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren. Also surviving her are other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapel, 800 Boston and San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:05 a.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2014 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
