Obituary

MARIA MAGDALENA "NENA" DIAZ Maria Magdalena or"Nena" as she was affectioneltly known by all her family and friends was called on by the Lord on Saturday, April , 2013 at the young age of 71. Nena was born and raise in Laredo, Texas. A graduate of Martin High School and a member of the Tiger choir. She went on to follow her dream and become a certified beautician. She received her certification from Laredo Community College and Laredo Beauty College where she later received her state license.Through out the years, she had been employed with numerous beauty salons around the Laredo area and and then had moved to Houston for a number of years, After a couple of years in Houston she then she came back to her home town of Laredo where she then took on to work along her sister in her Salon "Olivia's Beauty Salon. After a few hard years she then chose to retire and enjoy her favorite pastimes. Retirement was not a stopping point for her, she spend every chance she could with her family, especially her nieces and nephews which she treated as her own children. She was very well known by her family for her decorating of Holidays, Christmas, Halloween, Easter and so on, She also enjoyed cooking epecially her famous Menudo and enchiladas and her famous cucumber-avacado salad. A gardener at heart she had a green thumb and everything she touch would bloom. We are all going to miss her beautiful gardens and her famous cooking and the family gatherings. She was a beautiful Lady with a generous heart, and a huge appetite for Life. She will be greatly missed. We know God had a plan for her. She is preceded in death by her husband Miguel "Mike" Diaz who passed away in 2001, by her parents Raul Garza Sr. and Juanita Garza, and by her grandparents Domingo and Sara L. Martinez and by her brother-in-law Adolfo Guajardo. She is survived by her siblings Jose Guadalupe (Santos) Garza, Raul (Maria Teresa) Garza Jr., Dora G. (Armando) Moreno, Olivia (Adolfo dec'd) Guajardo and Diana )Norberto) Diaz. Also survivng her are her numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, other relative and many friends, Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons Funeral chapels, 800 Boston St. and San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from the funeral home chapel. A Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal services will be held at a later date. PALLBEARERS WERE: Letty Moreno, Mingo Moreno, Carlos Garza, Nick Diaz, Roberto Moreno, Jaime G. Garza, Kitty Martinez, Marky Guajardo and Bobby Moreno.
