MARIA BERNARDINA MEDINA
Maria Bernardina Medina, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully in her home on December 7, 2024 surrounded by family. She left behind a legacy of kindness and compassion. Born on May 20, 1932, in Laredo, Texas.
She is survived by siblings, Reynaldo and Ricardo.
Maria married the love of her life, Lorenzo O. Medina, in Laredo, Texas. Together, they built a beautiful family, raising five children: Jaime (Diana) Medina, Raquel Medina, Minerva (Daniel) Torres, Lorenzo Medina Jr., and Griselda (Alejandro) Gonzalez.
Maria's family continued to grow, blessing her with grandchildren Marili Medina, Jaime David (Katherine) Medina, Jhon (Karina) Torres, Kassandra (Nixon) Gonzalez-Urbanczyk, Isaiah Torres, Eli (Karina) Gonzalez, Jamee (Jorge) Medina, Martel (Aracely) Gonzalez, and Matthew Medina. She was known to them as Mamies. She later added great grandmother to her title with the addition of Silas, Alexay, Sophy, Jaxxon, and Olivia.
Maria's life was a testament to her passions and values. She found joy in sewing, gardening, and reading her Bible, and she cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Known for her culinary skills, Maria loved to cook for her constant visitors, always welcoming them with warmth and generosity. Her kindness, generosity, and compassion touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on her community and family. Maria's unwavering faith and dedication to her beliefs were evident in every aspect of her life, providing a guiding light for her beloved ones. Maria Medina will be deeply missed, but her spirit and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 departing from the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. A religious service, officiated by Elder Gil Lopez, was held in the funeral home chapel before committal services and interment, which followed at the Laredo City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Jaime David Medina, Jhon Torres, Isaiah Torres, Eli Gonzalez, Martel Gonzalez, and Matthew Medina.
Honorary pallbearers were: Kassandra Gonzalez, Marili Medina, and Jamee Medina.
