MARIA EVELIA ORTIZ Maria Evelia Ortiz, 79, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at a local hospital. Mrs. Ortiz was born in Mexico and had been a resident of Laredo, Texas for most of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arnulfo Bermea and Juanita Garza Bermea. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years of marriage, Guillermo Ortiz. Children, Guillermo (Gilda) Ortiz, Imelda Patricia Ortiz and Jose Arnulfo (Eliza) Ortiz. Grandchildren, Guilda Ortiz, Jose Eduardo Ortiz, Guillermo Ortiz, Jr., Daniela Ortiz and Diego Ortiz. Sisters, Graciela Bermea and Carlota Bermea (Manuel) Canales. Also surviving her are nephews, nieces, numerous other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons East Chapel, 4500 Thomas Ave. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, December 16, 2014 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
