In Loving Memory of Maria Primitiva Robles

Maria Primitiva Robles was born on March 25, 1927, in Jacona, Michoacán, Mexico, to Luis

Vega and Dorotea Acevedo. During the Cristero War in Mexico, her family relocated to Nuevo

Laredo, where she met the love of her life, Gregorio Robles, and married in 1943.

Together, Maria and Gregorio built a beautiful life and were blessed with three children: San

Juana Covarrubias, José Ángel Robles, and Raquel Loera. In pursuit of new opportunities, they

later moved to Dallas, Texas, and lived in “Little Mexico.” Eventually, she became a devoted

member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral, where she proudly served as a Guadalupana.

Her deep devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe was evident through her active involvement in

activities. Maria especially enjoyed traveling on parish trips with her husband, fellow

Guadalupanas and Padre Genaro, finding joy in fellowship, faith, and service to her church

community.

Maria was a talented seamstress who spent many years working in the clothing industry for

Herman Marcus and Cupioli's. She took great pride in her work and was entrusted with one of

the most important roles in the production process—the final inspection of garments before they

reached the sales floor. Her work reflected the qualities that defined her life: patience,

dedication, precision, and pride in a job well done. Maria had a natural appreciation for beauty

and fashion, and her creativity and impeccable sense of style were admired by all who knew

her. Whether through her work, her appearance, or the way she cared for her home and family,

she always brought elegance, thoughtfulness, and attention to every detail.

Maria was also known for her extraordinary cooking. Family and friends eagerly gathered

around her table, where her rice and homemade flour tortillas became beloved staples and

cherished family favorites. Her meals were made with love and brought people together across

generations.

In 1984, Maria and Gregorio retired and returned to Laredo, Texas. There, they enjoyed an

active and fulfilling retirement, spending much of their time traveling and at the senior center, El

Concilio . Maria loved staying involved in the community and often shared her gift of cooking

with fellow members. Even after Gregorio's passing, she continued attending and nurturing the

friendships she had built there.

In 2019, at the age of 92, Maria returned to Dallas, where she was lovingly cared for by her

daughter, Raquel, and son-in-law, Jesús, with the devoted support of her grandchildren and

great-grandchildren. During this time, she remained active in the Grupo de Personas Mayores

at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral. The monthly gatherings became a highlight, and she

looked forward to spending time with her friends, sharing stories, laughter, and fellowship. Her

faith and sense of community continued to sustain and enrich her life, bringing her joy in her

later years.

Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gregorio Robles; her daughter, San

Juana Covarrubias, and son-in-law, Arnoldo Covarrubias; and her son, José Ángel Robles.

She is survived by her daughter, Raquel Robles Loera and husband, Jesús Loera; her

daughter-in-law, Lupita Cossio Robles; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 6

great-great-grandchildren, along with countless extended family members and friends whose

lives she touched with her kindness, generosity, and love.

Maria's legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the traditions she passed down, and

the countless memories created around her table. She will be deeply missed and forever

remembered. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her loved ones in Heaven.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a vigil of the deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home on Friday, June12, 2026at 8:30 a.m. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

En Memoria Amorosa de María Primitiva Robles

María Primitiva Robles nació el 25 de marzo de 1927 en Jacona, Michoacán, México, hija de

Luis Vega y Dorotea Acevedo. Durante la Guerra Cristera en México, su familia se trasladó a

Nuevo Laredo, donde conoció al amor de su vida, Gregorio Robles, con quien contrajo

matrimonio en 1943.

Juntos, María y Gregorio construyeron una hermosa vida y fueron bendecidos con tres hijos:

San Juana Covarrubias, José Ángel Robles y Raquel Loera. En busca de nuevas

oportunidades, más tarde se mudaron a Dallas, Texas, donde vivieron en “Little Mexico”. Con el

tiempo, María se convirtió en una devota integrante de la Catedral de Nuestra Señora de

Guadalupe, donde sirvió con orgullo como Guadalupana. Su profunda devoción a la Virgen de

Guadalupe se reflejaba en su participación activa en las actividades de la parroquia. María

disfrutaba especialmente de los viajes organizados por la iglesia junto a su esposo, sus

compañeras Guadalupanas y el Padre Genaro, encontrando alegría en la convivencia, la fe y el

servicio a su comunidad religiosa.

María fue una talentosa costurera que trabajó durante muchos años en la industria de la

confección para Herman Marcus y Cupioli's. Sentía un gran orgullo por su trabajo y tuvo la

responsabilidad de desempeñar una de las funciones más importantes del proceso de

producción: la inspección final de las prendas antes de que llegaran al piso de ventas. Su

trabajo reflejaba las cualidades que definieron su vida: paciencia, dedicación, precisión y

orgullo por el trabajo bien hecho. María tenía una apreciación natural por la belleza y la moda, y

su creatividad y excelente sentido del estilo eran admirados por todos los que la conocían. Ya

fuera a través de su trabajo, su forma de vestir o el cuidado que brindaba a su hogar y a su

familia, siempre aportaba elegancia, dedicación y atención a cada detalle.

María también era conocida por su extraordinaria habilidad para cocinar. Familiares y amigos

se reunían con entusiasmo alrededor de su mesa, donde su arroz y sus tortillas de harina

hechas a mano se convirtieron en platillos inolvidables y favoritos de la familia. Cada comida

era preparada con amor y tenía el poder de reunir a varias generaciones.

En 1984, María y Gregorio se jubilaron y regresaron a Laredo, Texas. Allí disfrutaron de una

jubilación activa y plena, dedicando gran parte de su tiempo a viajar y participar en las

actividades del centro para personas mayores, El Concilio. María disfrutaba mantenerse

involucrada en su comunidad y con frecuencia compartía su don para la cocina con los demás

miembros. Incluso después del fallecimiento de Gregorio, continuó asistiendo y cultivando las

amistades que había formado allí.

En 2019, a la edad de 92 años, María regresó a Dallas, donde fue cuidada amorosamente por

su hija, Raquel, y su yerno, Jesús, con el apoyo y cariño incondicional de sus nietos y bisnietos.

Durante este tiempo, permaneció activa en el Grupo de Personas Mayores de la Catedral de

Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Las reuniones mensuales se convirtieron en uno de los

momentos más esperados, y disfrutaba enormemente convivir con sus amistades, compartir

historias, risas y momentos de fraternidad. Su fe y su sentido de comunidad continuaron

fortaleciéndola y llenando de alegría sus últimos años.

María fue precedida en la muerte por su amado esposo, Gregorio Robles; su hija, San Juana

Covarrubias, y su yerno, Arnoldo Covarrubias; así como por su hijo, José Ángel Robles.

Le sobreviven su hija, Raquel Robles Loera y su esposo, Jesús Loera; su nuera, Lupita Cossio

Robles; 11 nietos; 20 bisnietos; y 6 tataranietos, además de innumerables familiares y amigos

cuyas vidas fueron tocadas por su bondad, generosidad y amor.

El legado de María vive a través de la familia que tanto amó, las tradiciones que transmitió y los

innumerables recuerdos creados alrededor de su mesa. Será profundamente extrañada y

recordada para siempre. Que descanse en la paz eterna, reunida con sus seres queridos en el Cielo.

La visita se llevará a cabo el jueves 11 de junio de 2026, de 4:00 p.m. a 9:00 p.m., y se celebrará una vigilia por el difunto a las 7:00 p.m. en Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. en San Bernardo Ave. Los servicios fúnebres comenzarán con la salida de la funeraria el viernes 12 de junio de 2026 a las 8:30 a.m. La Santa Misa se celebrará a las 9:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica San Luis Rey. Los servicios de sepelio y la inhumación se llevarán a cabo posteriormente en el Cementerio Católico Calvary.
