Maria Del Refugio Elizondo

Maria was born on July 4, 1952, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas Mexico. "Mrs. Ely" as she
was known by her colleagues "Momma Ely" by her grandchildren. She was a devoted
mother and grandmother.
Maria left this world at the age of 72, on Friday, December 20, 2024. She was a
Registered Nurse for over 40 years. She worked for Mercy Hospital, then Laredo
Medical Center. Her hobbies included her love of reading romance novels, crocheting
and watching TV shows. She enjoyed her occasional travel outings.
Mrs. Elizondo is preceded in death by her husband Arturo Elizondo. Her daughter
Nancy Elizondo. Her son Juan Carlos Elizondo.
Her parents, Juan and Cecilia De Luna.
Her siblings Juanita Gonzalez, Jose Luis De Luna, Cecilio De Luna, Juventino De Luna
and Roberto De Luna.
Left to cherish her memories are her children Marisol (Juan) De La Rosa, Arturo
(Esther) Elizondo Jr.
Her grandchildren are Miguel, Arturo III, Oscar, Carlos, Alejandro, Ruben, Jayden,
Carla, Nidia, Elina, Lucia, Leah Mae.
Also surviving her are nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. Committal services will be held at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
