MARIA E. VELAZQUEZ Maria E. Velazquez, 84, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 at a local hospital. Mrs. Velazquez was born in Durango, Mexico and had been a resident of Laredo, Texas for most of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Velazquez. Parents, Lucio and Alejandra B. Rubio. Brothers, Jose Rubio, Teodoro Rubio and Geronimo Rubio. Sister, Maria De Jesus Rubio. She is survived by her children, Francisca (Jose) Montemayor, Gilberto Velazquez, Reyna (Jesus Aurelio Alcantar) Velasquez-Rubio, Guillermo (Isabel) Velazquez-Rubio, Isaac Velazquez, Jesus Velazquez and Valentina (Christian Flores) Velazquez. 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Siblings, Manuel Rubio, Maria Rubio, Alicia Rubio and Ascension Rubio. Also surviving her are numerous other relatives and many friends. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 4 to 9 p.m. and a Vigil of the Deceased will be held at 7 p.m. in the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons East Chapel, 4500 Thomas Ave. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2015 departing from the funeral home chapel. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at San Martin De Porres Catholic Church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
