MARIO SOSA JR.

Mario Sosa Jr., age 59, was a kind-hearted Laredoan whose sun set on Friday, July 10, 2020.

Mario was the son of +Mario and Elvia V. Sosa. He was a 3 rd generation Plumber and a graduate from Martin High School, Class of 1979. He was a member of La Banda del Animo and formed a lifelong friendship with his band members and called themselves, "La Familia".

Mario was also an amateur radio operator whose call sign was N5PKL. He was a General Class Hand radio operator. A member of the Republic of Rio Grande Club since 1980. He was also a member of W5LRD, Laredo Hams Amateur Radio Club, San Antonio Digital Radio Club and founding member of LADO-Los Amigos Digital Operators. His call sign is now at Silent Key.

Mario was an admirable family man who found the love of his life, in his wife Rosa Nelly Quiroga Sosa and their son, Elloy Castillo. He was fond of family gatherings, where he enjoyed listening to his Tejano music and enjoyed watching everyone have a great time, eating his famous carne asada & cabrito asado. He was a member of Iglesia Manantial de Dios con Vida.

He was preceded in death by his father: Mario H. Sosa, brother: Rene Sosa, Maternal Grandparents: Eloy and Ma.de Jesus Villarreal, Paternal Grandparents: Miguel and Petrita Sosa, his in-laws: Armando and Ana Maria Quiroga, Sisters in law: Pastor Celsy Quiroga Arrambide and Blanca Alicia Quiroga Arrambide. His Furbabies, Sprinkle and Tweenie and numerous aunts, uncles, nephew and cousins.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife: Rosa Nelly Quiroga Sosa, Son: Elloy Castillo, Mother: Elvia V. Sosa, Brothers: Guillermo (Sara) Sosa, Alberto (Esmeralda) Sosa,   Sisters: Cecilia A. Sosa, Ana Delia (Dcn. Hector) Hernandez, Elvia (Alfonso) Solis and Sisters in Law: Sandra Romanos Sosa, Dr. Maria de Jesus (Dr. Jorge Hernandez) Quiroga de Hernandez,   Brother in Law: Ruben Mario (Felipa) Quiroga as well as numerous Nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews whom he treasured, the Dairy Queen family, and all his friends whom he made during his lifetime.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 20, 2020,departing from the Hernandez, Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. on San Bernardo Ave. Committal services and interment followed at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

PALLBEARERS WERE : Elloy Castillo, Ricardo Sosa, Aaron Solis, Luis Paredes, Justin Sosa, Guillermo Sosa, Alberto Sosa and Max Sosa.

HONORARY PALLBEARERS WERE : Nieces, Nephews, Ruben Montemayor, Rosendo Guzman, Tomas Maldonado, Mario De La Rosa, David Longoria, "La Familia" Band Members, Dcn. Hector Hernandez, Alfonso Solis Sr. and Humberto Herrera Jr.
