Obituary

Mauro C. Gutierrez, 84, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday,October 31, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Gutierrez was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, and had been a longtime resident of Laredo, Texas. He loved, playing chess, hunting and music.


He is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Consuelo C. and Joaquin Amaya and his father, Juan Gutierrez; his sister, Rosa Maria Moreno; his first wife, Guadalupe Gutierrez; and his first mother-in-law, Aurora Oñate.


He is survived by his spouse, Juana Gutierrez; his children, Mauro (Elsa) Gutierrez, Dr. Sylvia (Gary) Gutierrez Carrington, Dr. Delia (Amando) Gutierrez, and Javier Gutierrez; grandchildren, Dr. Rebecca Lee (Anil) Shetty, PhD, Dr. Richard Stephen (Dr. Sarah) Bovio, PhD, Brittany Alexandria (James) Geesling, Lindsey Yvonne Gutierrez, Mauro Nikolas Gutierrez, Lisa Victoria Gutierrez, and Celine Katerina Gutierrez; and great-grandchildren, Aria Amaris, Rohan Lincoln, and Rani Jasmine Shetty, and Everly Yvonne Geesling. Stepchildren from his second marriage, Jaime (Monica Marie) Paredes and Rosa Gloria Paredes; and step-grandchildren, Azalea Viviana Chavarria and Damian Alexis Paredes.


He is also survived by his brothers, Juan (Dr. Olivia) Gutierrez, Carlos (Lourdes) Gutierrez, Gregorio (Ambrosia) Gutierrez, and Joaquin (Dr. Alicia) Amaya, Esq; and brother-in-law, Juan Roberto Moreno.


Also surviving are numerous other relatives and many dear friends.


Visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a Vigil of the Deceased which will be held at 7 p.m. at the Hernandez-Lopez and Sons, Northside Chapels, 800 Boston St. at San Bernardo Ave. Funeral services will begin departing at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025. A Holy Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2031 Lowry Rd. Committal services and interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.


Mauro's love for his family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
